Oakland, CA —
Cinnamon, Figg, Leif & Goldfarb LLC (“Cinnamon Fig”) today announced that a class action has been commenced on behalf of a bereaved family in the United States District Court for the Northwestern District of California on behalf of customers of Family Stations Inc. (“Family Radio”) between January 25, 1958 and May 21st, 2011, inclusive (the “Class Period”), seeking to pursue remedies under the Consumer Legal Remedies Act (“California Civil Code” ¤ 1750 et seq.) (“CLRA”) and Federal false advertising laws.
If you wish to serve as lead plaintiff, you must move the Court no later than 60 days from today. If you wish to discuss this action or have any questions concerning this notice or your rights or interests, please contact plaintiff’s counsel, Cornelius Coughlin of Cinnamon Fig by telephone toll-free at (866) 974-9933 or via e-mail at coughlin@cinnamonfig.com. Any member of the putative class may move the Court to serve as lead plaintiff through counsel of their choice, or may choose to do nothing and remain an absent class member.
The complaint charges that Family Radio and Harold Camping conspired to defraud its membership, customers, and the public at large. Family Radio has, on three successive occasions purported to know the hour and day of the return of Jesus Christ, Lord and Saviour of the Christian faith; these dates were, respectively, January 1st, 1984; January 1st 1994; and finally May 21st, 2011. The complaint alleges that, throughout the Class Period, defendants failed to disclose adverse facts about the factual nature of their claims vis-a-vis the Second Coming of Christ. Specifically, the complaint alleges that defendants: i) violated Federal false advertising statues by failing to include a disclaimer with its prophecies and appeals for funding; ii) subjected its customers, donors, employees and their respective families to financial, health, and societal hazards to their well-being; and iii) continues to profit from the radio licenses acquired throughout the Class Period funded by claimant donations and purchases.
On May 22nd, 2011, it was revealed for a third and final time that the prediction of Harold Camping that the Apocalypse would commence on the previous day on 6pm was not borne out by world events in any way shape or form. Following this Revelation, Family Radio did not acknowledge the error which prompted many to sell all their possessions and work for Family Radio spreading a message which turned out to be a fraudulent appeal for even more funds on behalf of the defendants. The plaintiffs are represented by Cinnamon Fig, which has extensive and unparalleled expertise in fraudulent media claims and financial impropriety.
